Public Health England has been established to protect and improve the nation’s health and wellbeing and to reduce inequalities. It will lead on the development of a 21st-century health and wellbeing service, supporting local authorities and the NHS to deliver the greatest possible improvements in public health.
This is a legacy website containing content from the North East Public Health Observatory, now part of Public Health England's Knowledge and Intelligence Team (Northern and Yorkshire). Existing tools and legacy information will continue to be available here, but new information will be published on the Public Health England website and data portal.

North East England Respiratory Profiles 2013
The North East England Respiratory Profiles provides insight into the impact of respiratory diseases in local areas covered by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) in the region. The profiles enable health & social care practitioners and commissioners to compare the patterns of COPD and Asthma in their locality with other CCG areas in England.
Community Mental Health Profiles 2013
The Community Mental Health Profiles is an open access tool showing a profile of key mental health indicators for each Local Authority in England. It is used to help commissioners, providers, also service users at a local, regional, and national level to compare patterns of mental health needs in their area. Data can be explored using a web tool or downloaded as a PDF for each area.
Local Health Profiles 2012
Local health profiles describe the health of the local population and enable comparison of indicators describing health and determinants of health at local, regional and national levels. The 2012 health profiles can be accessed via the Health Profiles website.
European Health Profile Tool
The European Health Profile tool presents health data from the I2SARE project through interactive maps and charts, enabling the comparison of health and socio-economic indicators, health care systems and health care financing of the countries included in the tool.
