Adult mental health service mapping atlases for England 2000-2003
Between 2000 and 2009, an annual mapping exercise was undertaken for all the services relevant to people with mental health problems in England. This was designed to monitor progress towards the goals set out in the National Service Framework and the NHS Plan with its subsequent Policy Implementation Guidance. The service mapping process was designed and set up by Gyles Glover and Di Barnes in the Centre for Public Mental Health at the University of Durham.
From the second year, they were joined by Keith Bennett and Steve Bradley in the Department of Computer Sciences and the whole data collection process was transformed into an internet based operation with live on-line reporting. From 2007 the data collection process was transferred to the consultancy firm Mental Health Strategies.
For the first four years of data collection, detailed reports were produced. These can be downloaded from this page. Full datasets for all the years covered are available in the North East Public Health Observatory.
