NDTMS North East is one of the nine National Drug (and Alcohol) Treatment Monitoring System regional centres across England. It operates from within the North East Public Health Observatory (NEPHO) which is located at Durham University, Queen’s Campus, Stockton on Tees.
The purpose of the NDTMS centres is to obtain detailed accurate and timely information for reporting drug and alcohol treatment activity.

06/07/2012 Experts urge new recovery focus for heroin addiction treatment Today a ground-breaking report by leading doctors and other experts in drug dependence has been launched about the proper ways in which prescribing medication can help heroin addicts break the hold of their addiction and recover from dependence. The report is the product of a two-year inquiry by GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, service users, and providers from both the NHS and voluntary sectors. It was chaired by one of Britain’s leading addiction specialists, Prof John Strang of the National Addiction Centre.

06/06/2012 'Statistics on Alcohol: England 2012' confirms continuing upward admissions trend The latest annual statistics on alcohol for England 2012 have been released by the ONS, confirming a continuing rise in alcohol-related and primary alcohol attributable hospital conditions. Alcohol-related admissions rose 11% on the previous year with primary diagnosis conditions up 2.1%.

The consultation document and response form are available from the LAPE website <www.lape.org.uk> and the closing date is 23rd August 2012. Comments are invited from all interested parties.
04/05/2012 Consultation for Changes to YP Core Dataset The NTA is proposing to amend the data that is collected by National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) from April 2013, to ensure it remains relevant to the delivery of specialist substance misuse interventions for young people. The deadline for responses is Wednesday 25th July 2012
