Health Inequalities intervention tool

Health Profile of England 2007

North East Strategic Health Authority Well-Being Programme
"The North East is an area of great need". The North East Strategic health Authority application to the Well-being programme was submitted 28 July. Public Health Observatories in England have launched Local Authority Health Profiles designed to show the health of people in local authorities across England. The Health Profiles are designed to show where there are important problems with health or health inequalities.
Delivering choosing health: making healthier choices easier
This delivery plan highlights how the DH and the NHS, within the framework of government policies, will help more people make more healthy choices and reduce health inequalities. It outlines clearly the priorities for delivery at national, regional and local levels and what will be done by whom and when. It brings into one place all of the actions on the White Paper commitments, alongside related Public Service Agreements and local targets to improve health.

What the 2004 Indicies of deprivation mean for the North East
This report, produced by the NERIP Executive Team, aims to analyse the issues for the North East arising from the publication of the 2004 Indices of Deprivation. THe Indices show that the North East has considerable strengths in terms of housing, the living environment and access to services. Generally, however, the North East is more disadvantaged than the other regions of England, but there are significant differences and contrasts within the region.
CMO's annual report
Each year, the CMO delivers an independent report to government on aspects of the nation's health. The annual report for 2003 makes the case for smoke-free work and public spaces and highlights the importance of medical research, earlier diagnosis of HIV and reform in the blood transfusion service.
Regional Indications
The Association of Public Health Observatories of England and Wales has published its second report on Regional Indicators in the English Regions. This second report concentrates on health related indicators at a sub-regional level. There are four parts to this report which can be downloaded separately.

Securing good health for the whole population - Wanless
In April 2003, the Prime Minister, the Chancellor and the Secretary of State for Health asked Derek Wanless, ex-Group Chief Executive of NatWest, to provide an update of the challenges in implementing the fully engaged scenario set out in his report on long-term health trends. Derek Wanless' final report "Securing Good Health for the Whole Population" was published on 25th February 2004.
John Reid announces consultation on public health
