National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP)

The National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) was established in 2005 (formerly known as the National Childhood Obesity Database – NCOD), to support the Government’s commitment to tackling childhood obesity.

The aim of the programme is to annually weigh and measure all children from maintained schools across England during Reception and Year 6. The data is then used to help inform local service planning and delivery, and to monitor population trends in childhood growth patterns and obesity.
