National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP)

The National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) was established in 2005 (formerly known as the National Childhood Obesity Database – NCOD), to support the Government’s commitment to tackling childhood obesity.

As part of the programme, children from Reception year and year 6 are weighed and measured. The data is then used to help inform local service planning and delivery, and to monitor population trends in childhood growth patterns and obesity.
