An Accelerated Solutions Event to design the right care pathway for children and young people with cerebral palsy.

On the 5th March the RMSO hosted an Accelerated Solutions Event (ASE) at Portland School in Sunderland facilitated by CapGemini. An ASE aims to bring the right people together to work on a clear set of priorities to achieve change which might otherwise take many months or years.

Forty-one representatives from health, social care and education as well as children and young people with cerebral palsy and their families in the North of England attended the one-day event which aimed to design the right care pathway for children and young people with cerebral palsy. The event was opened by Stephen Singleton, Medical Director of NHS North East.

Participants worked in a range of teams throughout the day focussing on: understanding the issues that impact on children and young people with cerebral palsy with some examples of best practice from across health, social care, education and leisure and beginning to work on solutions to the issues identified. The event produced a number of key recommendations which the sponsor group are now taking forward.
