Information for mothers

If you live in the North of England and you had diabetes before you got pregnant, you are eligible to be on the Survey. If you are considering whether or not to consent to be on the survey, the information on this page might help you decide.

Consent

Around the time that your pregnancy is diagnosed, your midwife or physician will discuss NorDIP with you. At this point you should be given a NorDIP Leaflet. You will be asked for your consent. If you feel that you should be on the survey please contact us.

Data collected at diagnosis of pregnancy

Your midwife will let us know that you are pregnant and give us some basic details about you, like your name, date of birth and your working date of delivery.

Data collected at delivery

After delivery, your midwife or physician sends us a form detailing the care that you received while you were pregnant and details about your baby. A copy of the form is available here.

What is the data used for?

  • The information will be used to provide hospitals with feedback about the care they provide
  • It will also be made available in published reports and articles
  • Clinical research into diabetes in pregnancy

Who runs NorDIP?

NorDIP is housed at the Regional Matenity Survey Office. The Chair is Professor Rudy Bilous who has studied many aspects of diabetes over the years. A number of midwives, nurses, physicians, researchers and obstetricians sit on the NorDIP steering group. If you have any queries about NorDIP, please contact Danielle Crowder, the NorDIP Data Manager.
