NorSTAMP information for mothers

Information for mothers

If you live in the North of England and you have been pregnant with twins or higher multiples since 1998 you are eligible to be on the Survey. If you are considering whether or not to consent to be on the survey, the information on this page might help you decide.

Consent

Around the time that your pregnancy is diagnosed, your midwife or obstetrician will discuss NorSTAMP with you. At this point you should be given a NorSTAMP leaflet. You will then be asked to sign a consent form. You will then be asked to fill in a consent form. If you feel that you should be on the survey and you have not completed a consent form please contact us.

Data collected at diagnosis of pregnancy

Your midwife will let us know that you are pregnant and give us some basic details about you, like your name, date of birth and your working date of delivery.

Data collected at delivery

After delivery, a midwife or obstetrican sends us a form with details about the outcome of your pregnancy, including information like birthweight and gestation. A copy of the form is available here.

What is the data used for?

  • NorSTAMP data is being used to develop standards of care for the region for mothers pregnant with twins and higher mulitples
  • Research using only the data from the database, which can be used to describe many aspects of twin and higher pregnancies
  • Clinical research into twin and higher pregnancies.

Who runs NorSTAMP?

NorSTAMP is housed at the Regional Matenity Survey Office. The Chair is Dr Stephen Sturgiss, Consultant in Fetal Medicine at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. A number of midwives, researchers and obstetricians sit on the NorSTAMP steering group. If you have any queries about NorSTAMP, please contact Danielle Crowder, the NorSTAMP Data Manager.
