Early Onset Dementia Rates - North East and England
These figures have been obtained from PANSI (Projecting Adult Needs and Service Information) ages 18-64 and from POPPI (Projecting Older People Population Information) over 65s. They show projections for 2010 to 2030 and the projection for England as a whole and the %age against the England figure.

Purposeful Walking Final Report January 2011 (NE - Telecare Project)
The Purposeful Walking Pilot was a project established across a number of local authorities in the North East of England. The aim of the project was to test the effectiveness of GPS tracking devices in reducing the risks associated with wandering behaviour among telecare users with dementia. The project was commissioned by the North East Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (NEIEP) and the Department of Health (DH) to support them in the implementation of Objective 6 of the National Dementia Strategy (NDS). This report sets out the findings of the first of two parts of that work, and is intended to provide the beginnings of a comprehensive evidence base for effective commissioning by authorities in the North East.

Using non-pharmacological interventions in care homes - Hartlepool And Easington
A 2 year porject has been funded by the Strategic Health Authority's Workforce Development Innovation Fund to work with 11 EMI Nursing Homes in the Hartlepool and Easington Localities. The overall aim of the project is to increase the use of non-pharmacological interventions in managing challenging behaviour in people with dementia, therefore decreasing the use of anti-psychotic medication

Skills For People Consultation On National Dementia Strategy August 2008
Skills for People, a user led organisation for people with learning disabilities in Newcastle upon Tyne was commissioned to carry out a consultation as to what people with a learning disability felt was important to include in the National Dementia Strategy. Three events were held, in Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Middlesbrough during August 2008. A total of 76 people came to these events, of which 55 had learning disabilities and 21 professionals working to support the people with dementia also attended. This report give details of their views.
