Introduction
Coronary heart disease is a major killer in the North East of England. A recent report published by the North East PHO shows that the mortality rates are continuing to decline and the gap between the high level of mortality in the North East and the rest of England is starting to narrow.
This recent report also shows that revasularisations are also being successfully targetted at the more disadvantaged parts of the region. However, there are some parts of the region which are still a cause for concern.
