Highlight figures
The North East Region has:
12 PCTs with a total population of 1247403 Males and 1308305 Females (2006)
Over 30% of people live in the 20 per cent most deprived areas in England (2005).
About 61% of children achieving at least 5 A*- C in their GCSEs (2006/07).
Average life expectancies of 75.8 years for men and 80.1 for women (2004-06).

PHINE The public health intelligence function for the North East of England, which aims to get the best possible use out of regional health intelligence resources.
